A commentary on Cicero's Dream of Scipio
Saturnalia ~ an account of a banquet held during the holiday of Saturnalia, and the deliberations of the guests on a variety of historical and philosophical subject matter.Includes the rare diagrammatic woodcut map of the world, one of the first to show the earth as a globe and showing the yet to be discovered Antipodean land mass. Book in very good condition for age ~ a little wormhole damage to the spine and original closure clasps no longer present ~ other expected signs of wear commensurate with age. Beautifully bound in leather with embossed decoration front and back. The book has handwriting to one of the back pages which reads: Christopher Wren his book and Chr Wren to the reverse of the title page with a date which appears to read 1643.
