Antique Solid Wood Interior Door
w/2 Panels
Handsome, antique, closet door salvaged from an old, home in Northeastern PA. The door has a solid Douglas Fir core covered by 1/16" thick birch veneers. The door has 2 recessed (flat) panels on both sides. The door is stained and finished on both sides.
Please don't think that "veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture, these veneers are 1/16" thick and provide strength and stability to the door.
Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of hardware to outfit it (check out our eBay store).
If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote.
Uneven Height: The door's height was unevenly cut by 3/8". The cut was most likely made to accommodate a warped floor or sagging foundation.
We could cut the door to an even 78 7/8", or cut it narrower/shorter, or even build it up to be wider/taller--email us for a quote.
Condition: The door is strong, sturdy, and in excellent condition. It only has nicks and scratches, but no breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that it has will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks."
Swing: The door is set up to swing into a room towards the right or away from the room towards the left. We could change the swing of the door--email us for a quote.
Strip/Refinish: We could strip/refinish, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. We have MANY photos of doors that we've restored that could give you an idea of how this door could clean up. Email us with a small description of what you would like done
and we'll give you a quote.
Modification: Do you want to replace the panels with glass, screen/mesh, or something else? We could modify the door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
Dimensions:
23 7/8" x 78 7/8" - 79 1/4" x 1 3/8"
